If heroin has taken over your life, it might be time to consider inpatient rehab treatment. Treatment for heroin addiction helps people overcome withdrawal and avoid relapse. Serious health risks arise when heroin use is discontinued abruptly. Inpatient doctors and clinicians help ensure a safe, successful recovery.
  • Heroin Withdrawal and Detox

Withdrawal symptoms like muscle aches and anxiety make quitting heroin difficult. Doctors are available to help treat these side effects.

CT Substance Abuse Facts

Connecticut is affected by the opioid epidemic sweeping across the country.

Deaths from fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid often found in the road supply of heroin, climbed from just 14 from 2012 to 466 in 2016. The percent growth of fentanyl-involved deaths in 1 year alone (2015-2016) was 155%.

The increase in opioid abuse can also be reflected in past-year heroin usage statistics for Connecticut among people aged 12 and older, that travelled from 0.56percent in 2013-2014 to 0.87% in 2014-2015 (by comparison, the national average was 0.3% and 0.33%, respectively).

Even though rates of medication signs and heroin use have gone up, the number of individuals receiving medication-assisted treatment for opioid addiction seems to have gone down. In 2013, 15,509 people were getting methadone in opioid treatment programs, based on single-day counts. While this was an increase from 11,849 in 2011, it diminished in 2014 to 14,072. The number of people getting buprenorphine for opioid dependence diminished from 980 individuals to 544 individuals from 2013 to 2015.

Getting Addiction Treatment Help

Kinds of substance abuse treatment may vary from 24/7, live-in programs to once-a-week treatment sessions. Programs can also vary in terms of what features they provide, what type of treatment doctrine they follow, and the experience and credentials of the staff.

Additional factors to take into Account when researching programs comprise:

  • Whether they take your insurance.
  • Exactly what their visitation policies are.
  • How preceding patients rated them on line.

If you're seeking treatment for opioid dependence, then you might also want to see whether the program provides medication-assisted therapy.

Where Can I Find Help?

Paying for rehab without insurance is possible. It is possible to see if the app employs a fee schedule based on your capacity to pay or inquire about other payment programs provided.

Other options you might employ to fund your treatment include healthcare credit cards, personal loans, crowdfunding, and borrowing from friends or savings and family.

State-funded rehabilitation programs are also available. However, they may have waiting lists and fewer amenities than personal programs. The Salvation Army and Catholic Charities also offer you low-cost programs.
